The purpose of Kijani Farm could be summed up in one word “HOPE” – in Swahili, the word hope is tumaini (TWO-MY-EE-NEE). It is a common word in the Kenyan vocabulary. Tumaini is posted on businesses, children’s homes, and schools. Kenyans have a deep desire for tumaini. Their lives are difficult as the majority of the population lives at the very bottom of the economic totem pole with little opportunity to change the course of their lives.
Kijani Farm, through a love of Jesus and personal experience, has utterly and completely fallen in love with the Kenyan people. Our hearts break for the challenges they face. Many of which seem impossible. But, we believe in a God of hope… a God of tumaini. AND, we know we have been called to help.
The beautiful people living at the bottom are faced with elusive solutions and limited resources. They are hungry, unemployed, uneducated and yet, they are brilliant, hopeful and hardworking. Kijani Farms’s purpose is to be effective for God’s kingdom and specifically the impoverished in Kenya. Kijani Farm is moving forward with a clear mission and methods as we endeavor to make a difference in the lives of many by becoming messengers and ambassadors of tumaini!
